I really resonated with this post. I believe that creating the work you love is connected to finding and living your purpose. Since we are all living during times of rapid change --- having the information into "what makes you tick" will help you to stay grounded and to make conscious choices for yourself. You know what I'm talking about choices like, "Will this job make me happy?" "Is it aligned with my mission and purpose?" "Is my potential move across the country one that will magnify or diminish my purpose?" Creating and taking your own unique livelihood is infinitely easier once there is clarity about your core and the essence of who you are.

This "burning fire of your will" is a critical piece. It is a common phenomenon to have one's fire dampened and snuffed by the emotional issues life brings. It can take a lot of excavation work to shovel out the damp, old ash to uncover that precious ember and fan it to life again! ~ and likely in a very NEW way than we once understood things to work. It is a new context we have to work with - and within - and our capacity to create is actually stronger than ever! With "thoughts creating" like greased lightning now -- the challenge is to harness all these doubts and fears that we have to negotiate in the climate of the moment.

What helps me is my increasing sense that this is all a great hologram that our higher selves actually "play" in with an attitude of fun and adventure. It's our street-level egoic 'portions' that get caught up in the fear, the lack, and then our powerful egos (and their wills) generate more of this... literally creating more of it to grapple with in each unfolding moment!

In my view, more vertical alignment (to the Great One higher up the bandwidth that is our source of all strength, power, and Love of what's really Right for us to do/be/have) is the key. A practice of suspending oneself in the transdimensional space encompassing our expanded selves for inspiration, and Gaia for anchoring this inspiration in form (if the inspiration needs to be physically manifested, which may or may not be the case) is my current practice, with an overall attitude that this is all a contrived "mess" we are seeing as various structures around us collapse (it is time for them to go).

My perception is, we are vast Creator Beings beyond time and space who have a game of sorts going on here... and we are about to pass Go and collect a reward: the reward of true higher awareness re: how to live, love, and express Self in luminous, synchronistic flow.

(Rick's post just inspired these 'notes to my Self' ... that I kind of splashed out here to share! oxo ~W)

Hi Yolanda,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts here, and encouraging others to do the same. I too am interested in what others might be thinking/intuiting. More coming from me before long...

Aren't you both offering truths? At the same time as we (individually and collectively) have to take responsibility for our own lives, our thoughts, feelings and actions, we are also influenced by forces greater than ourselves. This is not to suggest the absolute predictability of anything, perhaps it is more like a propensity. Richard Tarnas in Cosmos and Psyche analyses the archetypal patterns and acausal connections between the planetary alignments and the major events of human history and finds significant correlations - we are currently in a similar pattern to the c15-16 Enlightenment period. The point here is that we are part of a larger whole, the Cosmos, with its own intelligence that demands the activation of all our faculties, not just the rational mind, so that we can properly participate and even co-create.

Some say we are already in '2012 times', the more sensitive amongst us might experience a particular heightened awareness on the 21st December 2012, but we are all aware that things are changing around us at an increasingly accelerated rate. Stories and myths can help us through these times, although they can be sadly misinterpreted too. I find it helpful to see the Mayan prophecies as a gift of revelation (and the original Greek meaning of apocalypse is revelation) that helps me to accept my role in co-creating a better world, and also invites me to accept that some aspects of our world order will necessarily breakdown at the same time as new ways, technologies and energies breakthrough; I have to be responsible even though I'm not in control. 2012 is a useful focal point and helps me see myself as a small part of a larger process.

And what if 2012 is another opportunity for humanity to see ourselves and the world as it really is? I'm curious more than anything and I'd really like to know what other people think.

As we spent some time over the weekend on the notion of "bearing the wound," I can't help but share this one, too.

The notion of "proud flesh" is so resonant for me.

For What Binds Us

There are names for what binds us:
strong forces, weak forces.
Look around, you can see them:
the skin that forms in a half-empty cup,
nails rusting into the places they join,
joints dovetailed on their own weight.
The way things stay so solidly
wherever they've been set down --
and gravity, scientists say, is weak.

And see how the flesh grows back
across a wound, with a great vehemence,
more strong
than the simple, untested surface before.
There's a name for it on horses,
when it comes back darker and raised: proud flesh,

as all flesh
is proud of its wounds, wears them
as honors given out after battle,
small triumphs pinned to the chest --

And when two people have loved each other
see how it is like a
scar between their bodies,
stronger, darker, and proud;
how the black cord makes of them a single fabric
that nothing can tear or mend.

On the day after a stunning weekend with Rick and an amazing group of allies in San Francisco at CIIS, the following poem landed in my inbox:

The Seven Of Pentacles

Under a sky the color of pea soup
she is looking at her work growing away there
actively, thickly like grapevines or pole beans
as things grow in the real world, slowly enough.
If you tend them properly, if you mulch, if you water,
if you provide birds that eat insects a home and winter food,
if the sun shines and you pick off caterpillars,
if the praying mantis comes and the ladybugs and the bees,
then the plants flourish, but at their own internal clock.

Connections are made slowly, sometimes they grow underground.
You cannot tell always by looking at what is happening.
More than half the tree is spread out in the soil under your feet.
Penetrate quietly as the earthworm that blows no trumpet.
Fight persistently as the creeper that brings down the tree.
Spread like the squash plant that overruns the garden.
Gnaw in the dark and use the sun to make sugar.

Weave real connections, create real nodes, build real houses.
Live a life you can endure: Make love that is loving.
Keep tangling and interweaving and taking more in,
a thicket and bramble wilderness to the outside but to us
interconnected with rabbit runs and burrows and lairs.

Live as if you liked yourself, and it may happen:
reach out, keep reaching out, keep bringing in.
This is how we are going to live for a long time: not always,
for every gardener knows that after the digging, after
the planting,
after the long season of tending and growth, the harvest comes.
